Why Nevada?
With more productive time on our hands, we in Nevada brag about
a quality of life that few places on earth can offer. With generally
mild climates and four distinct seasons, the Nevada wilderness
offers year round recreation.
A lower cost of living also ensures that almost every family
will be able to afford a home. Our tax structure both benefits
businesses and residents. There are statewide business tax incentive
programs available to companies moving to the area. Commercial
real estate is also a fraction of what you would expect to pay
in other markets.
More than 300 manufacturers are located in our four counties
and this accounts for 16% of the local economy.
We don't have big cities, but our small ones are quite livable
and if you like country life, you'll find a lot to choose from.
The Northern Nevada Region averages over 300 sunny days a year,
which adds to time for enjoying recreation at 18 worldwide ski
areas, and a dozen 18-hole golf courses.
Hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, are also
some of the outdoor activities.
Northwestern Nevada is the birthplace of the state, beginning
with the discovery of the immense silver and gold deposits of
the Comstock Lode in 1859.
Lake Tahoe is 1/3 in Nevada, and one of the deepest lakes in
the world; the bottom is 92 feet below Carson City. It is 12
miles wide, 22 miles long, with depths to 1645 feet. It is at
an elevation of 6228 feet. Due to the constant movement of the
water from the bottom to the surface, the lake never freezes.
Nevada is the 7th largest state in size at 110,567 square miles,
which 85% is owned by the federal government.
Douglas County is 710 square miles in area, the fourth most
populated county in Nevada with some 40,000 residents. Its boundaries
encompass the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Lake Tahoe as well
as the Carson River and Topaz Lake. Elevations vary from 4625
to 9500 feet.
Carson City is situated in northwestern Nevada in the foothills
of Sierra Nevada range at 4700 feet. The current population
is more than 50,000, and draws from an overall trade area of
more than 200,000 population in five Nevada Counties, and three
in California.
